Gummi has everything covered from equipment to location to plan a b and c to account for any possibilities the Icelandic weather might throw at you. He ensured we were always able to be doing something adventurous through his local knowledge and use of weather mapping and resources. He helped us make the most of our time in Iceland (while also relaxing) and we 100% couldnt have done it without him. We felt safe with his expertise while pushing our comfort zones and ahead of the tourist packs by miles. We also had the pleasure of Helen hosting us at times as well and she couldnt have been more welcoming, knowledgeable or organised. Thanks again for the best experience possible it was great to still have control of our trip but have all the 'hard work' done for us. Couldnt recommend this unique travel concept enough.

Not one to usually write reviews but I couldn't NOT write one for colder climates. Five stars probably isn't enough. If you want the most unique experience in the most unique country you can't go past the authentic trips these guys offer. Gummi and Helen couldn't have made us feel any more welcome if they tried. Your trip is only limited by your imagination and the experiences possible really can't be gained by jumping on a bus with fifty other tourists. Gummi was our primary guide and his expertise goes beyond being a 'professional local.' I'm convinced he takes you to places even other locals don't know or go to. He has any equipment imaginable for any adventure and has extensive experience in so many outdoor activities and locations (and search and rescue) you will be nothing but safe and in a constant state of awe at where you find yourself. We were lucky enough to have two weeks of adventures and our only regret is we couldn't cancel our flight home. Having Gummi and Helen as hosts was like staying with family and I don't think they'd have their guests feeling any other way. It is clear they love what they do and are proud to give others a great experience of their country. We can't wait to go back.

High praise for the fantastic experience I had with Colder Climates! I traveled to Iceland from the US with a college group (Earlham College) as a photographer, and Gummi and his colleagues went out of their way to make sure myself and the videographer had what we needed to get the best shots possible. I was impressed with their knowledge of Iceland historically, geographically and culturally, and always felt our best interest and safety was their top priority. If you are traveling to Iceland and want an awesome adventure experience, these are the people to contact.

I had the pleasure of having Gummi as our guide over a 4 days shoot around southern Iceland and he was truly amazing. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable and reliable but he also went out of his ways to make sure all our needs where met. He's punctual, precise and extremely personable. Looking forward the next adventure in Iceland with this super guide!

A trip to Iceland had been on my bucket list for a long time! During my recent visit with four friends, Gummi and Odder were extremely hospitable and provided a true local experience. We stayed in a summerhouse, took some amazing hikes (one on a glacier) and saw numerous waterfalls as well as the Northern Lights. We were even introduced to some secret hot springs known only by the locals. The guys were very knowledgeable regarding all things Icelandic and were able to answer our many questions. I must say they are amazing cooks too! I definitely recommend Colder Climates to those looking for an authentic Icelandic experience with guides who are professional, yet friendly at the same time.
