  We booked through their website about a week in advance. We went with a Dacia Duster (which is a great car btw), on the website I thought we selected diesel, which we wanted because it gets better gas mileage and because diesel is cheaper than gasoline. When we went to pick up the car, we were given a gasoline and told that there was no diesel available. We were told that we get a discount at two gas stations (Olis, and another I can't remember), but the discount off a $72 purchase came out to 6 cents. Yes $0.06! Off of $72. Not per liter. I was a little disappointed at this point but there was nothing that could be done, but they gave us a gps (which we didn’t use, but the gesture was appreciated). Keep in mind, at this time there was only one employee working the counter and there were quite a few people waiting there, and he did what he could in his limited power to make us happy. On the first day, we saw a light come on the dash, which a lot like a heartbeat monitor come up. We didn’t think anything of it since the light would come up on occasion and go away, so we continued to drive. The day after, however, the light came on and stayed on the entire day. We looked up the symbol in the manual, and all it said was to take the vehicle to the dealership immediately. I called Geysir about the issue; they said it was a common issue with the Dacia Duster and just to ignore it. Keep in mind that we were driving on roads where we wouldn’t see a house, let alone another driver for long periods of time, by long; I mean 30-45 minutes at a time. If the car broke down, we would be stuck in the cold until someone from Geysir or some service came to bail us out. Driving in a foreign country is its own stress and the vehicle you're driving in shouldn't add to it. But we said okay, and continued on our trip as planned. Lucky for us, the entire trip went well and we didn't have any issues with the car. I'm not too familiar with Dacia Duster, but it is one great car! Got us through all the weather condition you can possibly imagine and we went through a lot. We even stopped to help some other AWD cars that were stuck in snow, we didn't get stuck once. The night before we were scheduled to go home, someone from Geysir calls me at 12:04 am. Yes. 12:04 am, when most normal people are asleep. He called to ask what time I would be returning the car. I told him tomorrow at 3:00 pm like it was originally scheduled. The next day, we go to return the car, the first thing the guy tells us is we kept the car for one day more than we were supposed to. I showed him our receipt and told him that I have the car till midnight and he didn't say anything. **Very important. Keep your receipt handy. ** If I didn't have mine, I most likely would have been charged for an extra day. I told him my entire experience there wasn't a great one starting with diesel/gas version of the Duster, he tells me they don’t offer any diesel, i pointed to the one they had sitting right outside the window and asked if that was for show, He said, "Yeah, that's for show". Then he goes to check the car has level, it was at 80% which he charges us $23, and says he's doing us a favor by waiving the service fee. We filled up $110 just before getting there, and I showed him the receipt. But he was arguing with me saying the car wasn't full, I told him I'd be more than happy to go to the gas station and he can come with us to show him that it was full. I asked if there was a manager we can speak to, he said "You can speak to me", I told him I didn't want to speak to him and he said I can speak to the only other that was working there who was busy with another customer. He said I was being a rude customer, I didn’t raise my voice in this entire interaction, I was speaking to him calmly but firm. There were other customers there to witness this entire interaction. I had a flight to catch and didn't want to miss it over $23, I paid it.

  Aspire to Amble

  We needed to rent a trusty car to drive all the way around the country during winter for an Aspire to Amble blogging trip, and Geysir made this so easy! Renting a car from them was quick, simple and good value, they were friendly and helpful and gave us all the advice we needed. It was also so great that we could pick up and drop off the car in reykjavik rather than just at keflavik airport. Definitely would reccomend!

  No satnav in car and charged 90 euros for delivery and pick up from hotel but they don’t deliver to hotel. They send someone to pick you up. 1 mile each way from hotel. The 90 euro fee is daylight robbery.

  My rental experience was a piece of cake. Fast, easy, no surprises. I would totally rent again.
