Nice walk to the pools. Very hot water in the upper pools. But better temperatures in lower pools.

Hot river with many hot springs where you can take bath for free. Accessible from parking lot after by 3km walk. The hills surrounding area are also beautiful. If you have enough time, its worth to take walk around hills. From hills you can see whole river and in this part you hardly met another persons.

Absolutely incredible hike, even in winter! We did it in December without issue. About 3.5km hike through small mountains until you reach the bathing pools. There are barriers for changing into swimwear. This was one of the highlights of our trip!

Probably my favorite part of Iceland is the thermal pools. This is one is lovely. I have seen pics where it is packed during high season, I highly recommend off season, it was empty, it was late October, it was cold and the water was sooooo refreshing and warm. The higher up pools are warmer too, closer to the source. The hike is not an easy one, but not too bad, I could call it a 6 out of 10 difficulty. (I consider anything 7 and above only for people who hike or exercise regularly, as I do not it was quite the work out). Careful at night, it gets dark fast. Best time ever though, you must go!

Beautiful scenery, calm and hot water. We just enjoyed the place. You may have to walk for 3 kms to reach the hot water stream. But the walk is totally worth it. Just go into the water, close your eyes and feel your breath, you will be in entirely different experience. We enjoyed every minute of our visit here.
