  This place is not very popular while visiting Golden Circle, so there is a good chance you'll be the only visitor there. The other thing I liked about it is that you can't see it from the road so the view of the waterfall might be surprising, especially if it's your first stop on the road.

  We stopped here on our Golden circle tour. The parking is a bit far from the waterfall, as you can see in my pictures. On the tour you won't have time to get close, so here is where a good dslr would come in handy. It's cold and windy still in March. I recommend covering your face on any tour, and major pro-tip = get gloves that let you use your camera phone. Cuz your hands will freeze trying to take pictures everywhere in Iceland.

  Take caution driving up in the winter time. We did a quick stop in a late Nov morning drive. The first time we tried to come, we couldn't find the road during a white out after our hike from Thingvellir. It's a fairly icy road to see this site, but on a calm day it is very easy to see the falls. Primary reason was because of Game of Thrones, specifically Season 4, Episode 6 “The Laws of Gods and Men“ where Drogon ate a goat. The falls were very frozen at this time of year, but the entire landscape was empty and devoid of any people. Pretty cool!!
