::This was the meeting place for a Free walking tour of the city. You can see the Parliament building just in front of it. It has lots of benches and we fed a couple of lovely, small, singing birds there. There's also a statue in the middle, of the guy who implanted the idea of Iceland being independent from Denmark. Apart from that, it's actually quite small and lacks any interesting vegetation.

::This is a popular city park with a great location between the parliament building and a series of sidewalk cafes. At the park center is a bronze statue of Jón Sigurðsson on a tall stone pedestal. Typically there is a crowd in front of this statue. The SW corner has the Black Cone monument to civil disobedience. The NE corner of the park (opposite corner from the Black Cone) which is across from the Paris cafe has interpretative signage for the history of public protests at this location. The park and its surrounding neighborhood is a nice area to explore on foot.

::Ganz netter Park. Eher politisch interessant als malerisch für Touristen. Guter Treffpunkt
