::When you start planning a tour in Island you are amazed by the number of offers you can get from the Net with all sorts of prices. We had only 4 days to make the most of beautiful Iceland and a number of activities already in mind, starting with watching the Northern Lights. We definitely wanted to enjoy this tour in the best possible way, avoiding crowds, buses and tour operators who tell you what to do and when to do it. We wanted an expert able to flexibly adapt the activities according to the weather conditions and possible constraints unavoidable dictated by Mother Nature in winter. Thor was very responsive. Contrary to other tour operators who were sending their answers and proposals after 7 or more days, he was quickly reading and sending tailored offers. Thor was always swift, kind and straight to the point when he made offers. He also granted the possibility to adapt the planning and remove / add activities very easily, taking our preferences into account. He organised 2 tours for us, including two wonderful dinners (the first on at Foss Hotel Glacier and the second at the Lobster feast). What can you ask best before starting your Northern Lights hunt??! He was always kind, friendly, uncomplicated and flexible... and that’s what we hoped when you know that you are going to spend so many hours (15 on the first tour) with someone you don’t know. Given all the above we can only warmly recommend to book a tour with “Different Iceland”. Indeed, it made all the difference and left us a wonderful memory of these amazing landscapes.

::Prior to arriving in Iceland, my wife and I had our itinerary planned for us. Our expectation was for our guide Thor to make that happen in a pleasant way. We were blown away with SO much more than we ever expected. We enjoyed conversations together on myriad topics from Iceland's history to modern day, with plenty of quiet time to take in the stunning scenery of South Iceland. Thor took great photos of us in dozens of locations, and we cherish these pictures. Once getting to know us a bit, Thor, ever the gracious and intuitive guide, recommended stops along the way for mini-excursions that were highlights on our trip, from a geothermal power plant and museum, to an extraordinary organic tomato greenhouse with a restaurant serving fresh tomato soup and pizza, to the new Lava Museum that opened a few weeks ago. The Lava museum has a world-class restaurant in it, so we had a great dinner, too. When clouds rolled in one day, our trip to the mountains would have poor visibility so Thor recommended skipping it to see other great sights nearby. A former Tech professional, he brought a WiFi hot spot for us. Thor's an experienced climber and he joined us on our glacier trekking and gave us extra safety tips- it was our first time wearing crampons. When our glacier lagoon zodiac trip was cancelled at the last minute due to splashing ice water from the wind, he got us onto a larger, more steady boat within 1/2 hour, with no prompting from us. A fantastic surprise we didn't think was possible. As you can imagine, this review is only "the tip of the iceberg" of notable memories of our guided Iceland excursion with Thor of Different Iceland. In hindsight, it's remarkable to return from our amazing adventure fully relaxed and having experienced and learned so much. Plus we made our first friend in Iceland! If we'd done this trip on our own, we'd be a bit fried and have experienced and learned much less.
