::Service was good. We had foi grai for appetizer, creekstone farm rib eye steak and Lobster truffle tagliatelle for main. Everything was superb.

::Amazing experience at Gallery Restaurant! The service was insanely impressive and food was amazing. We ordered apps and dessert - the foie Gras, cured salmon, carrot cake and dill ice cream - and everything was delicious. We arrived an hour after closing (we were staying in the hotel) and asked if we could grab a bite and they kindly obliged. Definitely recommend if you want to splurge.

::This is the place where you Go when you want consistent, high end service and well plated food that deserves to be called "gourmet". Been here 10-12 times over last ten years The wine list is fantastic and we have never been disappointed by the experience. An added plus is the museum quality, large format paintings by famous Icelandic artists!

::Gallery Restaurant, located inside Hotel Holt in central Reykjavik is a very classy place. When you walk into the dining room, it feels a bit like being in an art gallery with all these paintings on the walls. The room looks very traditional, not to say old-fashioned, but nice in its own way. Given that the restaurant is part of a top 4-star hotel in Reykjavik, that is probably exactly the atmosphere guests expect from a place like this. Learning from my dinner the night before, where I struggled with my main after a great starter, I decided not to order a starter at Gallery Restaurant. The wine list looks quite interesting, unfortunately not much available by the glass, but one white sounded good to me. I was surprised, that the wine was poured into my glass, without offering me to taste it first - that is the kind of gesture I expect from a classy restaurant, but as I liked the wine, it did not really make a difference. Shortly after, the lovely Czech waitress brought me a greeting from the chef, a little carrot soup with croutons. That was a great surprise, the creamy soup was very rich and was a nice start for my dinner. I also got a complimentary bread basket with white bread and butter, nothing exceptional, but still tasty. Encouraged by a lamb fillet I had two days before, I ordered the “fillet of lamb wrapped in Icelandic herbs, potato ‘Lyonnaise’ and cannelloni filled with cheese”. It looked very beautiful and I loved the Iclandic herb crust around the fillets. The lamb itself tasted as you expect lamb to taste - a little bit earthy and tougher than a beef fillet. It was cookd nicely and had a beautiful colour inside. I was a bit surprised that the cannelloni was mainly filled with olives and not cheese - something I do not really approve, but if you like olives, you will also like this. The potatoes sounded more interesting on the menu than they turned out to be, but they were pretty good and looked great. Besides the lamb, the sauce was the most delicious thing on my plate. I selected crème brûlée as dessert, and it came with a flavourful scoop of raspberry ice cream. Overall, Gallery Restaurant is a great place to eat with a classy atmosphere surrounded by Icelandic paintings, friendly service and decent food. While the food is pricey, the quality probably justifies the price tag.
