This was the most friendly and helpful hotel experience I've ever had in my life. Every single person behind the front desk whether am or pm shift litteraly went above and beyond . I will be returning to Iceland and I will be staying at hotel island again. Also great prices on food and drinks. Thanks everyone

Rooms are tiny and no real toiletries to speak of. They did include a kettle coffee and tea. Breakfast is good. The front desk has a bit of an attitude depending on who is there. You have to pay to use the gym (??!!) So might as well walk the 20 minutes to Reykjavik City centre to get your exercise in. Some decently priced food around the corner of the hotel (mulakaffi restaurant) with a lot of food and all you can eat soup, salad, bread, coffee and tea.

A nice hotel only let down by the distance from the city centre of Reykjavik. It is about a 25/30 minute walk, which is likely no problem in the summer, but due to the changing weather wasn't that much fun! Although you are able to see parts of the City you might otherwise miss. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, whilst the hotel reception is stylish, comfortable and the staff especially welcoming. The hotel bar and restaurant were superb, especially the lamb steak. The included continental breakfast was, again, superb. Plenty of options for hot and cold dishes, which was great when you need a hearty breakfast before a day of traversing Iceland's sights. The only downside to the breakfast options was the tea! It was ok. But not a patch on a proper English teabag. All in all a lovely place to stay if you don't mind walking into Reykjavik proper.

Make sure to include the spa services in booking, very relaxing hot tub and pool. The sauna is great along with gym facilities. More variety would have been nice for breakfast and dinner but nevertheless it is what it is. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. Special thanks to Ryan to helped us greatly.

Excellent staff. Very helpful. Good breakfast buffet. Nice rooms. After getting our bearings, realized hotel closer to city centre than first appeared. Would go again.
