::The rooms have good view of their snow-capped mountains. For now it takes longer though to move from the rooms to the ground floor since the hotel is presently undergoing renovation. Their Grilled restaurant on the top floor has 180 degrees view of the city. It serves good food & wine.

::The refurbished rooms are nice and comfy with good beds. The old rooms not so good. Once the hotel is finished refurbishment it will be great. Only about 10min walk from town.

::An OK Stay We stayed here recently on a mid-week trip to Iceland. The hotel was a short walk to the town centre and all the main sights. The hotel is being renovated and it needs it. Our room was on the small size and had seen better days. But it was clean and very quiet. The bathroom was OK (plenty of hot water) but it all needs updating. The free breakfast was good - I loved the cereal, local berries and skyr. The coffee was OK too. The main restaurant was closed for dinner on the day we arrived, so we had the evening buffet. It was not great - and quite expensive - but it was good enough (and the chocolate brownies were good!). The hotel wifi was OK but not very fast. We got free tickets to the local geothermal outdoor swimming baths - that was fun (sitting outside in just above freezing temperatures in a gusty rainy day - wow). I would avoid this place until the renovations are complete.

::Very outdated. There are refurbishment going on but not finished until 2019. Room very tired. Mattresses sagged in the middle. Rang reception they didn't care. Rang later in the day they could do nothing as fully booked but moved us next day to an upgraded room. Some reception staff could be friendlier. Housekeeping very nice. Breakfast buffet selection is good as long as you don't want your food hot but tepid. It is a shame as in its heyday I'm sure it was a stunning hotel.

::My stay here was very underwhelming. The location was convenient to the city center and the rest of Reykjavik, especially by car. The room was very small with an extremely small shower and bathroom. The shower was a very small booth which led to constantly bumping my elbows and knees on the walls. The water temperature seemed to be in a constant state of flux from hot to cold. Additionally, the drain did not drain properly causing me to stand in ankle deep water throughout the shower. The in-room hairdryer functioned for less than 90 seconds then suddenly stopped. The walls and ceiling are extremely thin which meant I could hear every door close, footstep, closet close and luggage roll the floor from the rooms at either side and above me. I could easily hear voices and alarms through the walls. The noises all around me made for a very difficult and restless night and are the single largest reason I cannot recommend this hotel. During my stay there was some kind of construction ongoing as well. I was not informed about this construction by the front desk upon check-in, but was very abruptly awoken by the sound of loud construction equipment in the mid-morning. As many other reviewers have noted, the room was dated and generally uncomfortable. I have two more nights booked here next week. I will ask the front desk if I can be moved to a quieter part of the hotel upon my next check-in and will update my review based on that experience.
