::We could have had possibly the worst day of our trip. We signed for our car and started to pack up for departure. As Iceland weather does so often in the winter, the weather turned. We waited in the office for about 40 minutes only to find out that every road in Iceland closed for the day... All but city streets, we had nowhere to go. Saevar, one of the most knowledgeable and friendly people we met on our entire trip was an employee at Sixt. He kept us entertained with stories of the island as well as taught us almost everything we needed to know about the history of Iceland and gave insider knowledge of where to travel. 7 hours later, we were on our way with an upgraded vehicle. (Which cut down on the pain of having to pay for a car and not use it). Thanks Sævar! You were a pleasure!

::Very friendly and helpful staff. They took the time to explain everything, including the common road conditions in Iceland and gave me a website to check for closures and updates. The car I received was a manual Toyota Yaris. It was almost new, with just over 2000kms and very good winter tires. I had no issues with the car and it took me across the island in some pretty bad weather. No issues upon returning the car and they gave me a ride to the bus terminal so I could get back to the airport.

::BEWARE! We chose sixt in Iceland because it was affordable and then they charged our card $750 a day for every day we were there and now refuse to give it back. Saying it's because we are from the United States!!! Unbelievable what has happened. Please stay away from this rental car company! A cheap week rental with sixt has now cost us thousands of dollars.

::No problems with the car. Issue with the lady at the desk. She attempted to sell me extra insurance claiming that insurance wasn't part of the booking I made, even though my booking email clearly said it was. I then explained that it was included and she said I was wrong. She then proceeded to hand me the paperwork to sign which clearly said 3rd Party Insurance included. The employee was knowingly attempting to sell me extra insurance giving me false information. What was more annoying was she claimed I was wrong when I called her out. Bad customer service.

::We booked a car for the incorrect day because of a confusion with an overnight flight and they were very accommodating. We actually ended up with a better car for the same price, which was very kind. They do put a hold on your account for 20 business days (1500 euros if you don't buy insurance, only 150 if you buy coverage) but we knew that going in and bought the insurance. We had no issues with turning the car back in, but we did look the car over thoroughly before leaving. We put 400km on the car during our one day layover, discovering some awesome sights on the golden circle. Would recommend this company.
